Drone Laws in Santiago, Chile (2025): Avoid $36,000 Fines by Knowing the Rules
Chile’s DGAC now requires all drones flying over Santiago’s populated areas to be registered and carry a 12-month card, with annual renewal. Operators must obtain flight authorization for every urban flight, and drones over 9 kg are banned from cities. Pilots need to be at least 18, pass training and exams, and hold a DGAC credential. Fines for violations can reach $36,000, with possible license suspension or criminal charges.
