BILLERICA, Massachusetts, August 10, 2026, 12:39 EDT — U.S. stock markets were trading as scheduled.
- Quanterix Corporation NASDAQ:QTRX dropped 39.3% to $2.45 after reducing its 2026 guidance.
- The midpoint of revenue guidance fell by 15.5% to $145 million.
- The cash-flow breakeven point shifted to 2027, and estimated cash at year-end dropped to approximately $80 million.
- Revenue increased by 34% in the second quarter, though management pointed to execution issues and softness in end markets.
Shares in Quanterix dropped 39.3% to $2.45 as of 12:13 EDT on Monday. The stock hit a 52-week low of $2.15 after starting the session at $2.30. Trading volume stood at 2.85 million shares, which is 4.5 times greater than its recent daily average.
The decline indicates a shift in expectations for growth and liquidity. Quanterix reduced its revenue guidance, revised its margin forecast lower, and pushed back its target for cash-flow breakeven to 2027.
The updated revenue forecast now stands between $142 million and $148 million. The midpoint of $145 million is $26.5 million lower than the earlier midpoint of $171.5 million, representing a decrease of 15.5%.
Chief Executive Everett Cunningham said, “Revenue fell short of our expectations, driven by execution challenges and continued market softness.” Quanterix is restructuring its commercial teams and appointing new senior leaders. Quanterix second-quarter release

| 2026 outlook | Previous | Revised | Midpoint change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $169 million-$174 million | $142 million-$148 million | -$26.5 million, or -15.5% |

| Cash-flow breakeven | Second half of 2026 | 2027 | Pushed back |
The forecast does not factor in any recovery in academic or pharmaceutical demand. Quanterix anticipates finishing the year without debt, although its expected cash position is 20% lower than previously projected.
Quanterix improved cash preservation in the quarter, finishing June with $96.9 million in cash, marketable securities and restricted cash. Adjusted cash usage declined to $4.0 million, compared with $14.8 million in the previous quarter.
The integration of Akoya has been finalized. Quanterix reported that the initiative resulted in annualized savings of $85 million. The company also noted a $26.9 million goodwill impairment linked to that acquisition.
Quanterix is currently trading just slightly above the level of its available cash, with shares at $2.45 giving it a market cap of roughly $116.3 million. That figure is just $19.4 million more than its reported cash and securities at the end of the second quarter.
The gap does not represent a valuation floor. The cash amount factors in restricted cash, and Quanterix anticipates more spending before reaching breakeven. The estimated year-end balance of $80 million results in a larger $36 million gap compared to the present market value.
Diagnostics continues to be the key offset. From July 1, Anthem policies started covering eligible blood-based biomarker tests, such as Quanterix’s LucentAD Complete test. The management team is also working on clinical utility research and seeking an FDA approval route.
As of Monday’s reset, published analyst calls remained outdated. On Google Finance, there were two Hold ratings reported, each setting a $4 price target. This target stood 63.3% higher than the quote seen during trading.
| Broker | Analyst | Rating | Target | Listed date | Implied move at $2.45 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canaccord Genuity | Kyle Mikson | Hold | $4.00 | May 27, 2026 | +63.3% |
| TD Cowen | Daniel Brennan | Hold | $4.00 | May 6, 2026 | +63.3% |
Both targets were set before the second-quarter results. The potential upside shown now reflects how quickly shares fell on Monday rather than any shift in analyst opinion.
Risks: Lower spending in academia or pharmaceuticals may last longer than management anticipates. Missing revenue targets again could deplete cash more quickly, increasing the risk of needing financing. It may also take time for diagnostics coverage to generate significant sales.
The upcoming assessment concerns whether the commercial revamp can steady revenue ahead of cash nearing the anticipated $80 million mark by year-end.
