HOUSTON, September 3, 2026, 07:57 EDT —

  • Fervo traded at $18.23 premarket, up 1.4% from Wednesday’s close.
  • The shares remained 18.5% above Monday’s close despite Wednesday’s 9.0% retreat.
  • Second-half capital spending is forecast at $850 million to $900 million.

Fervo Energy Company NASDAQ:FRVO rose 1.4% to $18.23 before Thursday’s open. The move followed Wednesday’s 9.0% pullback. Shares still held an 18.5% gain from Monday’s close Yahoo Finance.

The reversal frames the central investor test. A 396-megawatt Google contract improves long-term sales visibility. Yet most delivery is scheduled for 2028, after a heavy construction phase.

Fervo jumped 28.4% on Tuesday, then surrendered part of that move. Wednesday’s 19.5 million shares were 4.9 times the three-month daily average. That turnover suggests the contract reset valuation, not just sentiment.

The agreement covers 396 MW from Cape Station in Utah. Alphabet Inc.’s Google NASDAQ:GOOGL would use the power for a potential data center. Fervo expects that capacity online in 2028 company release.

Google also received an option for about 600 MW more by June 2030. The extra capacity is not a firm purchase today. Final data-center plans remain subject to approvals and commercial conditions.

Chief Executive Tim Latimer said the deal showed enhanced geothermal was “ready to power the next generation of computing infrastructure.” Reuters reported a 14% premarket rise when the agreement was announced Reuters.

Operations remain the nearer hurdle. Fervo targets test power from Cape Station’s first 33 MW block in the fourth quarter. Full Phase I production is expected to ramp through early 2027.

The balance sheet provides a cushion. June cash was $2.11 billion, against $228 million of long-term debt. Fervo also reported a $55.9 million second-quarter net loss quarterly results.

Planned second-half spending equals 40% to 43% of that June cash. The company raised about $2.2 billion in its May flotation. Much of the liquidity therefore already has a construction job.

Fervo estimates Cape Station Phase II at $5,500 per kilowatt. Applied to 400 MW, that implies about $2.2 billion of installed cost. The calculation is an estimate, not new company guidance.

The new contract disclosed no electricity price or revenue value. Investors cannot yet measure its return against that build cost. First power and disclosed project financing will narrow the range.

Risks: Construction delays, reservoir performance and permitting could postpone cash inflows. The optional 600 MW may never become firm. Higher costs could also consume the cash cushion faster.
