Nasdaq Trails Dow as U.S. Oil Tops $92 a Barrel

WTI crude traded above $92 ahead of the market open on Thursday. Nasdaq-100 futures slipped 0.26%, as Dow futures increased 0.18%.

NEW YORK, September 3, 2026, 08:00 EDT — U.S. crude prices climbed above $92 per barrel, highlighting a divide in U.S. futures trading as the Nasdaq underperformed the Dow.

  • WTI crude gained 2.14% to reach $92.96, while Nasdaq-100 futures slipped 0.26%.
  • Dow futures rose 0.18%, with a 0.13% increase in the final hour.
  • Snowflake NYSE:SNOW surged 23.5%, as NetApp NASDAQ:NTAP dropped 9.3% and Broadcom NASDAQ:AVGO slipped 3.6%.

WTI crude traded above $92 ahead of the market open on Thursday. Nasdaq-100 futures slipped 0.26%, as Dow futures increased 0.18%.

The division is significant as higher oil prices may reignite inflationary concerns. The 10-year Treasury yield stayed close to 4.8%, increasing the discount rate applied to growth stocks Associated Press.

After 04:00 EDT, the premarket session saw declines. Nasdaq-100 futures slipped 0.46% by the cutoff, with Dow futures little changed.

There was modest support in the last hour. Dow futures climbed 0.13%, and Russell 2000 futures gained 0.16%. Nasdaq futures, however, eased 0.03%.

WTI futures climbed to $92.96 at 07:59:35 EDT, marking a 2.14% rise compared to the previous close. Brent traded at $97.09, up 1.53%.

Corporate earnings increased the market’s internal divide. Snowflake Inc. NYSE:SNOW surged 23.5% from Wednesday’s close. Broadcom Inc. NASDAQ:AVGO slipped 3.6%, while NetApp Inc. NASDAQ:NTAP declined 9.3%.

Snowflake increased its product-revenue outlook for fiscal 2027 to $6.07 billion, up from $5.84 billion. Chief Executive Sridhar Ramaswamy said product revenue grew 37% to $1.49 billion SEC filing.

Broadcom posted $16.7 billion in quarterly revenue from AI semiconductors. Chief Executive Hock Tan stated it “grew 221% year-over-year” company release. The share price fell, indicating that even this growth was not enough to satisfy expectations.

NetApp reported a 30% rise in revenue to $2.03 billion. The company also lifted its full-year revenue outlook to a range of $7.98 billion to $8.23 billion company release.
