Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller echoed the decision, noting that the latest data indicated “some signs of disinflation.” He said that sustained progress would back keeping rates unchanged Federal Reserve.

The rebound on Wednesday set a foundation, with the S&P climbing 0.46% to reach 7,666.60 after falling in three consecutive sessions AP market close.
The August employment report due Friday serves as the next key test. Waller stated that steady job numbers and easing inflation may warrant a patient approach. However, a surge in inflation could renew discussion of a potential rate hike.
