Silver rebounds after breaking $80 as gold steadies following record-high whipsaw
Silver rebounded 2.5% to $74.10 an ounce Tuesday after plunging nearly 9% from a record $83.62 in volatile holiday trading. Gold edged up 0.7% to $4,361 after a sharp drop from Friday’s all-time high. Platinum and palladium also posted steep losses. Analysts cited profit-taking and thin year-end liquidity for the swings.
