July 7, 2026, 7:59 AM EDT. York Holdings is looking at buying other companies over the next two and a half years to add scale, Bloomberg said, citing director Naofumi Nishi. The supermarket group, which came together after Bain Capital paid $5.37 billion for Seven & i's supermarket business, is planning an IPO as soon as fiscal 2028, depending on how the market looks. York runs 30 stores now and is talking with eastern Japan rivals, trying to add more shops in key areas and push into new places. Higher costs have made it harder to open new supermarkets, so deals are more attractive. York will spend Y150 billion ($930 million) on revamping stores by fiscal 2029, not counting any M&A. It's also thinking about selling off some retail assets that aren't supermarkets.
