Blue Origin Launch and SpaceX IPO Hype Set Stage for Tema Space ETF Activity

U.S. stock markets stayed closed over the weekend, so the Tema Space Innovators ETF was left to absorb Friday’s drop after a Blue Origin rocket explosion pressured space stocks and weighed on SpaceX IPO bets. NASA ended Friday at $40.17, off 3.97% for the day. Still, the ETF finished up roughly 3.6% from the May 22 close at $38.76, after markets saw a short four-session week with the Memorial Day holiday.

Investors zeroed in on the space-and-defense firm's record backlog and the 2026 sales goal, largely brushing off a steeper first-quarter loss. Shares were last seen at $13.04, putting Redwire’s market cap around $2.53 billion.

A source close to the deal pegged SpaceX’s valuation at $1 trillion and xAI’s at $250 billion—up from recent secondary-market estimates around $800 billion and $230 billion, respectively. xAI investors will get 0.1433 SpaceX shares per xAI share, the source added, with some execs able to cash out at $75.46 per share. PitchBook analyst Ali Javaheri highlighted Starlink as a “cash flow engine” amid LSEG data showing this is now the biggest M&A deal ever, beating Vodafone’s 2000 Mannesmann acquisition.

Morgan Stanley Upgrade Lifts MDA Space as 2026 Space-Tech Funding Forecast Rises

Global investment in space technology is set to climb again in 2026 after a record year, driven by defense-linked satellite systems and launch capacity, investment firm Seraphim Space said on Monday. Private investment rose 48% in 2025 to $12.4 billion, the firm said, and “a potential SpaceX IPO could act as a powerful catalyst,” said Seraphim Space investment analyst Lucas Bishop. The update lands as Canada’s MDA Space jumped 14.5% on Friday after Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock, a move that helped keep Toronto’s main index near record levels.
