  • SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) Assets Jump on Trump Accounts Default Move
July 4, 2026, 5:24 PM EDT. Assets in State Street's SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) are up by around $18.3 billion since March 31, beating its net asset value (NAV) gains over the same stretch. The ETF is now the default pick in Trump Accounts, a new federal savings plan for U.S. children born 2025-2028, with the government adding $1,000 deposits at birth and up to $5,000 a year after. SPYM holds about $154.86 billion, and shares were last at $87.67, for a 14.6% bounce in NAV since March 31. The Trump Account moves are fueling extra inflows, with initial government money projected at $14.4 billion based on expected births. Alternative ETF choices are coming, but right now, all new money goes into SPYM unless account holders switch.
