Commodities Prices Today (Dec. 17, 2025): Oil Jumps on Venezuela Blockade, Silver Hits Record High, Copper and Iron Ore Firm
Oil prices jumped over 2% after the U.S. ordered a blockade of sanctioned tankers entering and leaving Venezuela, pushing Brent to $60.33 a barrel and WTI to $56.69. Silver hit a record above $66/oz, while gold held above $4,300/oz as softer U.S. labor data fueled expectations of 2026 rate cuts. Copper, iron ore, and major agricultural futures also posted gains.
