Nasdaq-100 futures fell 0.90% before Tuesday’s open as oil and bond yields climbed. The contract traded at 29,248.25 at 04:58:59 EDT. S&P 500 futures were down 0.49% at 04:52:28 EDT Nasdaq-100 futures; S&P 500 futures.
Technology led the retreat. Nasdaq futures lost 193.50 points after 04:00 EDT, a 0.66% slide. Their discount to Monday’s settlement widened more than that of the S&P contract.
The move links two valuation pressures. WTI crude rose 2.68% to $88.06 at 04:57:15 EDT. The 10-year Treasury yield was quoted near 4.79% around the cutoff WTI futures; market snapshot.
Nasdaq futures weakened through the first premarket hour

Fresh U.S.-Iran fighting kept the Strait of Hormuz risk in focus. The route once handled about 20% of global oil shipments. KCM analyst Tim Waterer said that risk was “reflected in the firmer tone in crude prices” Reuters; AP.
President Donald Trump threatened further strikes after renewed clashes. Higher crude can lift transport costs and inflation expectations. That narrows the case for easier Federal Reserve policy Yahoo Finance.
Broad ETF proxies all pointed lower

Premarket breadth was negative across four major ETF proxies. QQQ fell 0.50%, more than SPY, DIA and IWM. Consolidated cash-equity breadth and volume were unavailable before 09:30 EDT.
Monday’s cash session supplied a weaker base. The S&P 500 lost 0.33%, while the Dow fell 0.70%. Decliners outnumbered advancers by 1.95 to one on the NYSE Reuters.
Oil, yields and volatility tightened together

The early stock tape was split. DaVita Inc. NYSE:DVA gained 9.33%, while CarMax Inc. NYSE:KMX rose 7.14%. Diamondback Energy, Inc. NASDAQ:FANG added 4.62% as crude climbed.
Active technology names moved the other way. Micron Technology, Inc. NASDAQ:MU fell 1.56%. Nvidia Corp. NASDAQ:NVDA dropped 0.71%, and Tesla Inc. NASDAQ:TSLA lost 0.89% premarket movers.

Two 10:00 EDT releases could reset rate pricing. The Bureau of Labor Statistics will publish July job openings. ISM will release its August manufacturing survey at the same time BLS; ISM.
Friday brings the August employment report at 08:30 EDT. A strong payroll reading could reinforce the oil-driven rate pressure. A softer result would test that link BLS calendar.
Risks: Thin early liquidity can exaggerate futures and single-stock moves. Oil may reverse on diplomacy or restored shipping. Economic data can quickly overturn the rate signal.
The first technical test is 29,441.75 in Nasdaq futures. That was the 04:00 EDT level. Failure to recover it would keep technology’s valuation discount in focus.
