Quantum Computing Inc. NASDAQ:QUBT rose 9.6% on Friday during a broader rally across the sector. The gain added roughly $177 million to the company’s market capitalization. There was no company news driving the move.
The company’s balance sheet partly accounts for its attractiveness. As of June 30, QCi disclosed $1.3 billion in cash, equivalents, and investments. That amount represents roughly 64% of its $2.02 billion preliminary market value as of Friday.
However, even with the cash, the shares cannot be considered inexpensive. After excluding the disclosed cash, approximately $719 million in remaining equity value is left. This represents nearly 32 times the second-quarter revenue on an annualized basis. Both figures are provisional.

The operating base is still limited. Revenue for the second quarter increased to $5.6 million, up from $61,000 in the same period last year. Operating costs climbed by more than twofold to $21.8 million. Net loss decreased to $11.8 million.
| Operating measure | Q2 2026 | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $5.6 million | $61,000 in Q2 2025 |
| Operating expenses | $21.8 million | $10.2 million in Q2 2025 |
| Net loss | $11.8 million | $36.5 million in Q2 2025 |

Mergers and acquisitions are altering the figures. QCi spent approximately $180 million in cash on acquisitions over the quarter. The acquisition of NHanced Semiconductors involved an initial payment of $73.1 million, with potential additional contingent payments of up to $72 million.
Chief Executive Yuping Huang said QCi is “well positioned to continue integrating our recent acquisitions” and to grow its customer base. The key question now is if the revenue gained from acquisitions will translate into sustained organic demand. Company statement
Dilution is also a key factor. QCi disclosed 226.346 million common shares outstanding as of June 30, compared with 224.165 million at the end of the previous year. The filing detailed a further 8.747 million in options, warrants, and unvested shares. The company did not sell any at-the-market shares during the first six months.
| Analyst | Firm | Rating | Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| John McPeake | Rosenblatt | Buy | $22 |

Tracked consensus: four Strong Buy, two Hold; average target $18.33. Data viewed August 22, 2026.
The average target suggests an upside of about 105% from Friday’s closing price. However, the most conservative target is just 12% above that close. This broad range points to notably different expectations for how quickly commercialization will proceed.
This week is expected to challenge the momentum seen on Friday. Investors are set to focus on contract specifics, backlog turning into revenue, and signs that recent acquisitions will drive up recurring sales.
| Next-week watch | Bull case | Bear case |
|---|---|---|
| Sector funding | More federal support | Proposal lacks near-term awards |
| Commercial traction | New orders or customer detail | No company catalyst |
| Balance sheet | Cash supports integration | Deal spending stays high |
| Share supply | No ATM issuance | Options and warrants dilute |
Risks: Demand for quantum-photonics could expand at a slower pace than anticipated. Costs related to acquisitions, challenges in integration and potential future dilution may weaken the balance-sheet buffer.
