Sandisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) rebound repairs less than one-fifth of last week’s loss

NEW YORK, July 20, 2026, 12:29 p.m. EDT

  • Sandisk rose 7.4% to $1,454.65 during open U.S. trading.
  • The intraday rebound restored 17.8% of its July 10–17 dollar loss.
  • Fiscal fourth-quarter results are due August 5. Investor Day follows August 13.

Sandisk shares jumped 7.4% on Monday as chip stocks rebounded. The move still repaired less than one-fifth of last week’s dollar loss.

That gap matters. Percentage gains look large after steep falls, even when little ground is regained.

Sandisk fell 29.3% between July 10 and Friday. At midday Monday, it remained 24.1% below the earlier close.

The wider chip market also recovered. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gained about 2.5% after entering bear-market territory Friday.

“There’s just a little less room for error,” said Jack Herr, a senior investment analyst at GuideStone Funds. Earnings surprises could move the market sharply, he added. Reuters

iShares Semiconductor ETF $536.27+2.8%-10.2%24.3%

Preliminary intraday calculations use prices at about 12:14 p.m. EDT. Loss recaptured equals Monday’s dollar gain divided by the July 10–17 dollar decline.

Micron recovered 37.6% of its prior weekly loss. Western Digital and SOXX each recovered about 24%.

Sandisk’s repair rate was the weakest in this group. Its Monday gain was the largest.

Friday’s consensus data valued Sandisk at 6.4 times forward earnings. Micron stood at 5.7 times, versus 22.8 times for SOXX.

The low multiple reflects elevated profit forecasts, not a low share price. Sandisk remained up 471% for 2026 through Friday.

The company guided fiscal fourth-quarter adjusted earnings to $30–$33 a share. Third-quarter adjusted earnings were $23.41.

Revenue reached $5.95 billion in that quarter. Datacenter sales rose 233% sequentially to $1.47 billion.

Chief Executive David Goeckeler said the shift was creating “structurally higher and more durable earnings power.” Sandisk Corporation

Sandisk had signed five new-business-model agreements by April 30. Management said they use multi-year commitments and financial backing.

The next test comes August 5, when Sandisk reports fiscal fourth-quarter results. Its Investor Day follows on August 13.

Risks: Memory earnings remain cyclical, while forecasts leave little room for misses. Sandisk says customer guarantees may not fully replace lost revenue after a default. Capacity and yield shortfalls could also disrupt deliveries.

The intraday data show partial repair, not a full reset. Sandisk had recovered the smallest share of last week’s loss.
