Stock movements followed key catalysts. Medtronic plc NYSE:MDT climbed 4.13% to $95.00 after posting quarterly revenue of $9.756 billion and lifting its yearly guidance company release. Robinhood Markets, Inc. NASDAQ:HOOD advanced 2.88% on a Morgan Stanley upgrade.

The upcoming release is set for 10:00 EDT, when the Labor Department issues its report on July job openings, the official BLS calendar shows. Openings for June totaled 7.4 million.

The main focus for rates remains Friday’s payrolls data. Strong jobs figures may bolster expectations for rates to stay elevated. Conversely, a soft report could be positive for bonds, but also heighten worries about economic growth.

Risks are balanced on both sides. A reduction in U.S.-Iran tensions could swiftly undo recent gains in oil. Additional attacks or a robust jobs report may trigger another futures selloff ahead of the market open.
