NEW YORK, September 1, 2026, 17:07 EDT — Dell shares advanced 8.7% after its latest earnings report, with technology shares showing mixed results following the recent selloff.
- Dell shares rose 8.73% in after-hours trading to $461.52, rebounding after falling 6.92% during regular session.
- MongoDB dropped 12.15% in after-hours trading even as it posted 30% quarterly revenue growth and raised its full-year outlook.
- The S&P 500 slipped 0.71%, with U.S. crude closing at $90.22 and the 10-year Treasury yield hitting 4.79%.
Dell Technologies Inc. NYSE:DELL climbed 8.73% to reach $461.52 as of 17:02 EDT. Meanwhile, MongoDB Inc. NASDAQ:MDB shares declined 12.15% to $381.44.
The split shifted sentiment following a lackluster cash close. Major index funds saw little movement in the opening hour after the bell. Declines from the session were still in place.
The S&P 500 ended the session at 7,631.47, slipping 0.71%. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.03% to 26,099.77. The Dow declined 0.79%, and the Russell 2000 retreated 1.23%.

Broad market pressure was evident, as the number of declining stocks surpassed advancers by a ratio of 1.95 to one on the New York Stock Exchange.
Dell posted the biggest after-hours liquid turnaround. Revenue hit an all-time high of $47.0 billion, climbing 58%. The company raised its full-year revenue outlook by $25 billion to $192 billion.
AI-server economics led to the shift. Dell announced quarterly AI-server orders of $60.9 billion and reported a backlog totaling $95 billion. Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clarke stated Dell “booked a record $60.9 billion in orders.”
The rise in after-hours trading more than offset Dell’s decline during regular trading hours. Shares ended roughly 1.2% higher compared to Monday’s close. This highlighted company performance, rather than just interest rates, as the main marginal factor influencing pricing.
Fresh results split the technology aftermarket

MongoDB responded more sharply. Revenue increased by 30% to $771.8 million. Free cash flow surged to $137.6 million, nearly double the previous level. The company lifted its full-year revenue forecast to a range of $2.99 billion to $3.03 billion.
Chief Executive CJ Desai described it as the “highest level of growth in several years.” The drop in shares indicates investors were seeking more than previous growth. MongoDB’s earnings call started at 17:00 EDT.
Palo Alto Networks Inc. NASDAQ:PANW gained 0.40%. Fiscal fourth-quarter revenue climbed 34% to $3.41 billion. Annual recurring revenue from next-generation security increased 63% to $9.10 billion.
Credo Technology Group Holding Ltd. NASDAQ:CRDO dropped a further 4.50% in after-hours trading. The decline came after the shares slid 8.65% during the regular session. Earnings failed to provide a consistent boost across the group.
The upcoming session will assess that selectivity, as investors prepare for additional corporate results and Friday’s August jobs data. Oil prices and Treasury yields continue to serve as the primary cross-market transmission mechanisms.
Risks: Liquidity after hours is lower compared to standard trading sessions. Initial reactions may shift during earnings calls or when trading resumes Wednesday morning. A new shock in oil or bonds could outweigh signals from individual companies.
