US economic calendar today: Retail sales, import prices and a $58 billion Treasury auction set the tone for stocks
U.S. stock index futures were flat early Tuesday ahead of December retail sales and trade price data due at 8:30 a.m. ET. The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all closed higher Monday, with the Dow hitting a second straight record. The NFIB small-business optimism index slipped to 99.3 in January. The Treasury will auction $58 billion in 3-year notes at 1 p.m. ET.
