AI Agents Go Mainstream: OpenAI and Amazon set the tone with new autonomous AI “agent” offerings. OpenAI rolled out ChatGPT “Agent”, a mode that lets its chatbot take actions on the user’s behalf – from finding restaurant reservations to compiling documents or shopping online ts2.tech. Unlike a passive text bot, the agent uses a virtual browser and plugins to execute multi-step tasks with user permission ts2.tech. Together, OpenAI and AWS are racing to make AI agents a staple tool – promising big productivity boosts even as they grapple with safety and reliability challenges in the real world.
