Korea Slides 10%, Nasdaq Futures Down 2.7% as Chip Stocks Sink Worldwide

Semiconductor stocks around the world fell sharply Tuesday, with South Korea’s KOSPI down 9.99%. Chipmakers in Europe dropped too, and Nasdaq 100 futures shed 2.7% ahead of the Wall Street open. “Former generals … appear to have lost momentum,” said Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone.

STMicroelectronics Nears Highs Ahead of June 2 Test

STMicroelectronics’ U.S.-listed ADRs finished the week up 3.7% amid a jump in AI and space chip names, but valuation questions remain. The ADRs slipped 0.2% Friday to $69.31, after ending last week at $66.86. U.S. markets were closed Monday for Memorial Day.

STMicroelectronics N.V. Stock Jumps 5.9% as AI and Space Chip Bets Put STM Back in Play

Shares of STMicroelectronics N.V. surged 5.9% to finish at $59.17 on Friday, after Berenberg stuck with its Buy call and maintained a 53-euro price target for the chipmaker. The gain pulled STM back into the spotlight following a choppy period for semiconductor stocks in Europe.

Amazon stock slips near close as AWS chip pact spotlights $200B AI spending bet

Amazon.com dropped 0.5% to $209.19 late Monday, bouncing between $203.40 and $212.77 during the session. Roughly 80.8 million shares traded as investors digested new supply-chain updates related to its cloud business, with concerns about big-tech spending in the mix.

STMicroelectronics stock price: Oddo target lift meets Monday test as chip peers line up

STMicroelectronics starts Monday on a stronger note after Oddo BHF raised its price target late last week. The Paris-listed shares ended Friday up roughly 1.3%, closing at 23.84 euros. Meanwhile, the U.S.-listed shares in New York dropped 2.5% to $27.89, dragging the stock down about 3.3% over the past five sessions.
