Dow dips from record zone as chip bounce meets Fed succession chatter
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 21 points to 49,421.43 in thin trading Friday, as chip stocks steadied but banks fell on policy and rate concerns. Treasury yields edged higher. Investors are focused on next week’s major earnings reports and the Federal Reserve meeting set for Jan. 27-28. U.S. markets will close Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
