Real-Life Mechs Compared: Which Giant Robot Is Actually the Closest to Gundam?
Tokyo-based Tsubame Industries unveiled the 4.5 m, 3.5-ton rideable Archax robot in 2023, planning five units at ¥400 million each. The RX-78F00 Gundam in Yokohama, 18 m tall and 25 tons, performed choreographed movements for over 1.5 million visitors before closing in March 2024. Eagle Prime, a 4.9 m, 12-ton robot, debuted in 2017 and now performs with Straight Up Racing in the Pacific Northwest.
