A severe geomagnetic storm reached G4 levels early Wednesday, prompting UK and US agencies to issue G4–G5 aurora watches through Thursday. The British Geological Survey reported the strongest geoelectric field in the UK since 2012. Cloud cover is widespread, but clearer skies are possible in far north Scotland and southeast England. Rain lingers overnight in parts of Northern Ireland and north Connacht.
