  • Brent-WTI Crude Oil Price Spread Hits Decade High Amid Soaring Middle East Demand
March 20, 2026, 4:27 AM EDT. The price gap between Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures widened to around $14 per barrel Thursday, hitting the largest spread in over a decade. Brent traded at $111.37 a barrel, while WTI was at $97.78. Earlier, the spread neared $20 as Brent rose to $114. Brent, the global seaborne crude benchmark, reflects geopolitical risks and international demand surges, especially from the Middle East and Europe. WTI, priced at a U.S. inland hub in Cushing, Oklahoma, is buffered by domestic production and infrastructure, making it less sensitive to global disruptions. The widened spread highlights increased geopolitical risk premium on Brent amid Middle East tensions impacting oil markets.
