Australia’s ASX is closed Thursday and Friday for Christmas and Boxing Day, with trading set to resume Monday, 29 December. The ASX 200 last closed down 0.4% at 8,763 in a shortened session, but ended the week up 1.6%. Miners held firm on strong metals prices, while banks slipped. The Australian dollar climbed to about 67 US cents, its highest since October 2024.
