NEW YORK, August 2, 2026, 16:04 EDT
- Raising Cane’s plans to launch seven new locations and relaunch four renovated restaurants in August.
- Five new locations increase capacity in established markets, while Rocky Mount and Statesboro mark debuts in new markets.
- Initial estimates show August’s start annualizing at almost 8%, based on more than 1,000 restaurant locations.
Raising Cane’s is set to launch seven new U.S. locations in August. Five of these outlets will expand the brand’s footprint in regions where it currently has restaurants. The remaining two will mark Raising Cane’s debut in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Statesboro, Georgia.
The breakdown shows more than the aggregate. Of the new units, 71% go to existing markets, while just 29% need launches in first-time markets.
In March, Cane’s hit the milestone of its 1,000th location. The company has also announced intentions to open 100 new locations in 2026. The seven new restaurants set for August account for 7% of that yearly goal.
A rough estimate suggests the August pace, when annualized, approaches 8%. This is largely in line with KFC’s most recent unit growth of 7%. However, it is still roughly half of Wingstop’s stated 16% growth rate.
The launch covers seven cities on four consecutive Mondays. Reports up to Sunday included confirmed addresses and opening dates.
| Opening date | New restaurants | Market status |
|---|---|---|
| August 3 | Novi, Michigan; Rocky Mount, North Carolina | One is existing, one is new |
| August 10 | Thousand Oaks, California | Existing location |
| August 17 | Fontana, California; Linden, New Jersey | Existing locations |
| August 24 | Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Statesboro, Georgia | One is existing, one is new |
The timeline is weighted towards the end. Four restaurant launches are set to take place following August 16. Cane’s is additionally reopening upgraded locations in Texas, Kentucky, Nevada, and Ohio.
For investors in public markets, the most comparable companies are Wingstop NASDAQ:WING, Yum! Brands NYSE:YUM, and Restaurant Brands International NYSE:QSR. Their most recent results distinguish between restaurant expansion and consumer demand.

Cane’s rate projects a single month’s performance over a year based on a minimum of 1,000 units. This figure does not directly align with peer year-on-year growth rates.
Wingstop launched 102 new locations in the last quarter. Domestic same-store sales declined by 7.5% over that time. Still, system-wide sales climbed 5.3%, indicating overall growth despite decreased individual store demand.
Chief Executive Michael Skipworth described the pipeline as “one of the strongest development pipelines in the industry.” Wingstop maintained its global unit growth projection at 15% to 16%. The company expects domestic same-store sales to decrease by 4% to 6% this year. Wingstop Investor Relations
KFC posted 7% unit growth alongside a 2% increase in same-store sales. System sales for the division grew 6% on a currency-neutral basis. In contrast, U.S. KFC system sales declined 2%.
Chief Executive Chris Turner stated that Yum is “built for dependable growth, disciplined execution and long-term value creation.” KFC’s international performance offset softer sales in the U.S. SEC
Popeyes provides its latest update for public investors. Same-store sales declined by 6.5% in the first quarter, while net restaurant growth reached 1.2%. RBI is set to report second-quarter earnings Thursday at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

The U.S. market will not open on Sunday. Regular NYSE trading will start again at 9:30 a.m. EDT on Monday. Two major events will shape the upcoming week.
| Date | Event | Investor focus |
|---|---|---|
| Monday, August 3 | Cane’s launches new locations in Novi and Rocky Mount; U.S. stock trading resumes | Performance of initial August openings |
| Thursday, August 6 | RBI discloses Q2 earnings at 8:30 a.m. EDT | Popeyes growth in sales and store count |
Tuscaloosa’s new restaurant is scheduled to open its doors on August 24 at 9 a.m. CDT. The location on McFarland Boulevard marks the first standalone Cane’s in the city. Tuscaloosa currently hosts another Cane’s outlet on the University of Alabama campus.
Risks: The initial schedule does not determine returns at the restaurant level. Some new locations could divert sales from existing outlets nearby. Rising labor and construction expenses may also extend the time required to recoup investments. The August update omits comparable-sales figures or data on returns from individual units.
