Skywatchers Rejoice: Blood Moon, Auroras & Rocket Launches Dazzle on Sept 8–9, 2025
A total lunar eclipse on Sept 7–8 turned the full Moon deep red for 83 minutes, the longest totality since 2022, and was visible to billions across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Geomagnetic storms triggered auroras unusually far south, while SpaceX and China launched rockets on consecutive nights. The bright Moon washed out the Epsilon Perseids meteor shower. Saturn shone at its yearly brightest near the Moon.
