Consumer group Which? is leading a collective claim that could see Qualcomm pay around £480 million to up to 30 million UK consumers who bought new Apple or Samsung 4G smartphones between October 2015 and January 2024. The case alleges Qualcomm abused its dominance by forcing inflated licensing fees onto handset makers. The trial’s first stage began at the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal on 6 October 2025. Individual payouts may reach about £17 per eligible handset.
