Nasdaq bounce hides thin megacap recovery as US stocks end

Dow hits 52,000 in premarket as U.S. stock futures trade higher

U.S. stock futures ticked higher early Tuesday, but traders didn’t keep up Monday’s big technology rally. The key move was the gap between cash trading and futures: the Nasdaq Composite jumped over 500 points Monday, but as of 5:24 a.m. EDT, Nasdaq 100 futures added just 14.25 points. Exchanges in the U.S. were on track for a regular session. According to the NYSE’s 2026 holiday schedule, the next market closure is July 3 for Independence Day.

Samsung, SK Hynix chip plan has investors looking beyond $1.3 trillion headline

South Korea put a number on its AI-chip plan: 800 trillion won from Samsung Electronics Co, SK Hynix Inc and suppliers to build four new fab sites in the southwest. That’s still a big wager, but well below the $1.3 trillion headline that moved memory shares ahead of the announcement. The figure is also less than the earlier 2,000 trillion won group total floated before Monday’s presidential briefing.

Trump-era loan caps could open door for private lenders in grad school market

The July 1 student loan rewrite gives investors a clearer look than most recent fights in Washington: how much demand will shift from unlimited federal credit to private student loans, and how much drops off thanks to price cuts, lower enrollment or tougher credit. The law cuts off new Grad PLUS loans for a lot of grad and professional students, ending the run where eligible students have been able to borrow up to full cost of attendance.

Micron (NASDAQ:MU) moves pull Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) into focus this week for AI stocks

AI stocks in the U.S. head into the four-day week after last week’s drop facing a tighter focus: who is on the hook for memory bills. The memory crunch that helped Micron Technology is now hitting hardware prices at Apple. For investors, it’s a sharper gauge of whether AI spending still drives profit, or if those costs are now squeezing the rest of tech.

TeraWulf (NASDAQ:WULF) short interest, volume in focus as AI rally gets tested

  • Meta Jumps $221 Billion on AI Cloud Ambitions
July 12, 2026, 2:48 PM EDT. Meta Platforms (META) jumped 14.8% last week and added about $221 billion to its market cap, bringing it close to $1.72 trillion. Investors are betting on Meta's plans to ramp up AI cloud infrastructure, with targets to reach 14 gigawatts of compute by 2027 and its Iris AI chip project with Broadcom. Meta rolled out the Muse Spark 1.1 AI model for developers, pushing to monetize these AI tools with API sales. Analysts say Meta's valuation per gigawatt trails Amazon and Alphabet, so there could be more room if its AI and ads businesses keep building. Q1 revenue was up 33% at $56.31 billion, and Meta held on to strong operating margins and free cash flow, even while spending big.
