NASA’s Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS: New Images, Life’s Ingredients and What Comes Next After the December Flyby
Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, discovered July 1, 2025, by NASA’s ATLAS telescope in Chile, will pass closest to Earth on December 19 at about 170 million miles. The object, moving over 150,000 mph, poses no impact risk. NASA and ESA spacecraft have tracked its path and composition since it passed Mars in October.
