Pennsylvania’s average gasoline price has dropped to $4.109 per gallon, down over 53 cents from a month ago, but remains higher than the national average and last year’s price. JBS USA is closing its Souderton, Pennsylvania beef plant and a Memphis facility, affecting 1,693 jobs, due to tight cattle supplies and high cattle costs, while beef prices remain elevated. In the semiconductor sector, TSMC’s U.S. shares surged 6.9% to $462.12, up 9% for the week, and Nvidia gained 3% to $210.69, with the PHLX Semiconductor Index rising 7.3%. Intel rose 10.6% to a new high of $133.99, and AMD advanced 4.9% to $537.37, both outperforming the Nasdaq’s 2.4% weekly gain. In Canada, Royal Bank of Canada shares slipped 0.36% after the regulator cut the Domestic Stability Buffer to 3.0%, giving banks more lending flexibility, while Bombardier shares rose 4.41% amid attention on the luxury tax and its Global 8000 program. Bradesco shares in Brazil finished flat as the central bank lowered the Selic rate to 14.25% but remained cautious about further cuts. Alphabet shares rose 1.17% to $368.03, up 2.3% for the week, while Microsoft fell 2.9% since June 12, lagging broader indexes. SpaceX shares dropped 3.6% to $185, with Nvidia’s market cap now more than double SpaceX’s. U.S. stock markets were closed Friday for Juneteenth, with the S&P 500 up 1.1% for the week, the Nasdaq up 1.9%, and the Dow up 0.1%. Investors are watching upcoming Micron earnings and inflation data.
