Vancouver Drone Laws 2024–2025: New Rules, No‑Fly Zones, and How to Avoid Hefty Fines
Drones between 250 g and 25 kg must be registered and flown by licensed pilots under Transport Canada rules; micro drones under 250 g are exempt. Vancouver bans drone take-offs and landings in city parks and beaches, with no public parks designated for drone use. Most of Vancouver is in controlled airspace near YVR, restricting flights to Advanced Operations pilots with NAV CANADA approval. Provincial and national parks also prohibit recreational drone use without special permits.
