  • Genesis Minerals, Vault Minerals to Merge in AU$12.6B Deal, Becoming Australia’s No. 3 Gold Producer

Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) and Vault Minerals (ASX:VAU) have struck a deal to merge, forming what will be Australia's third-largest gold producer with a combined value of AU$12.6 billion. Vault shareholders are set to get 0.7629 Genesis shares plus AU$0.475 in cash for each Vault share. The agreement ends the bid fight with Regis Resources (ASX:RRL), after Vault accepted Genesis' offer, a 14.5% premium to Regis' AU$4.61 per share. The combined group plans to turn out 600,000-700,000 ounces of gold a year out of Western Australia and targets AU$2 billion in post-tax synergies over 10 years. Closing is targeted for November pending approvals, with Vault to exit the ASX.
