Applied Materials finished the holiday-shortened week just under record highs, keeping nearly all of Tuesday’s big move as traders left for the weekend with U.S. markets shut. The chip equipment maker ended Friday at $450.06, up 0.08% for the session and 4.1% higher than its May 22 close. Shares hit $462.40 on Wednesday, the top print in the latest month’s price data.

DJT bounced late in the short U.S. trading week, ending Friday at $9.31. That was up 4.6% for the day and 17.1% higher than the last Friday close at $7.95. Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. saw no more moves with U.S. exchanges closed Saturday. Nasdaq holds its regular hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern on trading days.

    July 9, 2026, 4:46 AM EDT. U.S. small-cap stocks booked a 22% gain in the first half, their strongest H1 run since 1991, said Charlie Bilello, Chief Market Strategist at Creative Planning. The Russell 2000 Index finished up more than 22%, ahead of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq by over 12%. All 11 sectors in the Russell 2000 were positive, with technology out front, according to Franklin Templeton. Small and micro-caps pushed forward in Q2 2026, even as markets watched inflation and geopolitical news. Analysts point to valuations and earnings as still driving small-cap strength. ETFs such as SPY, QQQ, DIA, and IWM traded higher on the day with sentiment staying mixed.
